Although Anna Maria Island was fortunate enough to escape any effects from the disasterous BP Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf, there were many beautiful parts of the coastland effected. However, the federal government have now issued estimates from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Admnistration claiming that the vast majority of the oil has now either been removed - burned, skimmed or broken up - or evaporated. This is good news to hear!
